STIX Fonts Production Release In Final Review

Initial Release Will Not Include Advanced OpenType Support

Near the end of February the candidate production version of the STIX Fonts was distributed to the STIX Technical Review Committee for final testing and approval. This version is based on the file organization of the beta test version but with many of the variant glyphs moved from the non-Unicode font files to the Unicode files using variant encodings. Details of the revisions will be made available during the final testing period. The target date for final release of this production version is end of May 2009. Work will then begin on a production release containing advanced OpenType features that will be capable of being used with applications like Office 2007. At the same time, we will begin work on a version that will provide LaTeX support.
